SELECTED WORKS
2018 - 2025
The following selection of projects should give an overview of our conceptual visions, technical strategies and artistic craft.
We had the pleasure to support some amazing teams, production companies and ensembles and their productions over the course of the last years.
The importance of electronic media blurs the limits of physical and virtual spaces. We create and produce audio-visual compositions and translate them into three-dimensional spaces for galleries, exhibitions, showrooms, science centers and live experiences.
Our work fully covers the whole range from creative and technical concepts through production to the on-site implementation.
Our studio comprises three editing suites, including a 7.1.4. Dolby Atmos studio, a fully equipped recording room as well as a large multi-purpose space including photo- and video capabilities for a wide variety of demands.

GENELEC’S SMART IP SPEAKER
As audio adventurers, we are thrilled to have a reliable sonic reference in our shows that enables us to reproduce our acoustic vision on such a large scale within an exhibition, making it possible to bring an accurate representation of our sonic vision to the venue, without having to remix on-site or making any sacrifices along the way.
Genelec's mightiest Smart IP speakers are a great tool and technical innovation.

Music is pure magic. It directly triggers our limbic system and evokes strong emotions; it fundamentally changes our perception and tricks our minds; it alters our concepts of time and space.
With music, we can time travel through imaginary places outside our everyday experience, and the world can shine in a kaleidoscopic light.
Music becomes an equivalent otherworldly force to the mighty superpowers of our Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe.
The Music of Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Exhibition is a journey along the rainbow bridge of the amazing history of Marvel.
The musical themes are an artistic translation of this time line—with a strong human touch to it.
Our musical journey takes us from the early Marvel comic books and the genius work of the comic creators—working with simple pen and paper and the charming textures of halftone patterns and faded colors—through the exciting decades with 60s psychedelic visuals and collage experiments to the early 70s TV show adaptations and through the 80s computer game experiences to the world of epic blockbuster movies.
In our musical interpretation of the world of Marvel, we blend classic orchestral heroic gestures with found-footage sample fragments; we combine noirish jazz with memorable pop hook lines; we add flakes of 80s chiptune sounds and contemporary urban beats—it’s all part of a musical multiverse where time and space are transformed.
» If architecture is frozen music, is music liquid architecture? «

In conversation with our curators, we often came back to our working thesis of “the walkable comic” and how sound can contribute to the sensation of entering the world of Marvel.
As a composer and media artist, I like to call the development of the sonic layers of the exhibition experience “acoustic scenography,” which comprises the actual musical narration, ambient moments, sound effects, voice-overs, and docu-mentary layers – literally any sonic event appearing audibly in the exhibition.
The whole exhibition follows a common musical time line, and, depending on the dramaturgy of the rooms, we balance out the intensities and complexities of these acoustic elements – so, you might have a cinematic immersive experience in one room, followed by a more contemplative space where you could want to take in valuable background information or look at an original artifact.
The world of Marvel provides endless inspiration for musical ideas and sound design layers. Almost like “sonic colorists,” we have tried to bring the characters being presented to life: the Captain America statue frozen in ice with its chilling crackles and eerie ambient drones; the surreal multiverse of Doctor Strange with its otherworldly, spinning wormhole-like sonic particle streams; the dark back-alleyways of New York City with fragments of urban beats and the disruptive cacophony of the city that never sleeps; or the rainbow bridge and its palette of orchestral and vintage synthesizer colors, like a cosmic mirage.
Pretty much like the great and powerful wizard hides behind a curtain with his machines, we too, of course, have a hidden layer of technology behind all the magic and poetry of an immersive experience.
We utilize a complex matrix of speakers spread across the exhibition space, with a
» I’m a very good man. I’m just a very bad wizard. «
— The Wizard of Oz
central processing unit that feeds all acoustic events based on the Dolby Atmos standard. All media events are fully synchronized, supporting the vision of the curators and scenographers. People often ask what the difference is between a movie soundtrack and acoustic scenography. My thought on this is that, ideally, in our exhibition space, the classic time line of a narration unfolds into space, giving the visitor the opportunity for a very individual and emancipated experience. We love to encourage the visitors to move freely through the soundscape of the exhibition, as if, upon entering the realms of Marvel, one is experiencing “liquid architecture.”

UNIVERSE
OF SUPER HEROES
All photographs property of their respective owners.

This blockbuster exhibition takes visitors on a journey through 85 years of Marvel history in comics, films and other media. Walk-through sets, interactive displays and an immersive sound experience by film composer Lorne Balfe bring the world of comic books to life. Alongside these attractions, the exhibition is also an homage to such creative minds as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, whose creations are the foundation of the ever-growing network of stories in the Marvel Universe that we know and love today.
In Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, you will discover original artifacts, including real costumes, props and original art - from the origins of the Marvel Universe in the 1940s of New York to the present day. The exhibition shows the enormous influence of Super Heroes on pop culture worldwide and reveals the stories behind individual characters such as Captain America or Captain Marvel at the same time. During the tour, you can feel your way through the mysterious mirror dimension of Doctor Strange or pose for a selfie alongside life-size representations of Black Panther or Spider-Man.

MARVEL UNIVERSE OF SUPER HEROES
ROUGH GUIDE TO THE SONIC UNIVERSE
[X] memorable hookline (“leitmotif”) for uni-versal use (exhibition soundtrack/web/media formats)
[X] emotional, touching, exciting, secretive: the musical translation of the heroes journey
[X] the main can be transformed, scaled, morphed into various musical shapes to avoid an "acoustic overkill”
[X] the good vs. The evil: you feel the presence of the dark forces to make our hero-theme shine
[X] the main theme stems will be used to create the necessary elements for all the media derivates, films and web formats
MAIN THEME
SOUNDTRACK VS. AMBIENT TRACK
The soundtrack and the ambient track run fully synced and support each other. The soundtrack version is the actual piece of music which is presented in the musical sweet spots (e.g. cinema / outro zone).
The ambient version is a “blurred”, highly reduced version of the soundtrack. It’s main purpose is the use as an atmospheric emotional backdrop in the exhibtion space. Both tracks run simultaneously. The visitor will experience the change of complexity by walking through the different zones.
The so called “bleeding” in the zone of acoustic transition is smoothed because the soundtrack and the ambient track share the same key and same musical basis and support each other.
MAIN THEME
WAVES OF INTENSITY
The main theme will be audible as a soundtrack and an ambient track version troughout the exhibition.
The narrative density of the music can float free almost wavelike in intervals.
The idea is to present the theme with a strong emotional impact – and then again give the audience some acoustic space and time to develop their own thoughts, emotions and perspectives on what’s being displayed.

HAMLET
DER REST IST
SCHWEIGEN
